Chinese Consulate General in Auckland Holds a Networking Event with the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand China Friendship Society

On 5 September, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Auckland held a networking event with the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand China Friendship Society (NZCFS). More than 30 people joined the event, including Consul General Chen Shijie, President of the NZCFS Auckland Branch Leeann Wahanui-Peters. 

In his remarks, Consul General Chen Shijie congratulated the newly elected President, Vice Presidents and members of the Executive Committee, expressed gratitude to the Auckland Branch for its contributions to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and New Zealand, and encouraged them to continue to be storytellers of China-New Zealand friendship, promoters of bilateral friendly cooperation and inheritors of the spirit of Rewi Alley, working together with people from all sectors in the consular district to write a new chapter in China-New Zealand friendship.

Leeann said that the Auckland Branch will continue to uphold the spirit of Rewi Alley, actively serve as a bridge for people-to-people exchanges, help more New Zealanders better understand and appreciate China, and make new and greater contributions to deepening friendship between the two countries.

Members of the Consulate-General and the Auckland Branch gathered in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with both sides presenting performances and singing a Māori song Tutira Mai together.
